NEW/NOW Jennifer Wen Ma: An Inward Sea is part of 2020/20+ Women @ New Britain Museum of American Art.  An Inward Sea continues the exploration of utopia, dystopia, and the human condition, while reflecting deeply on the events of the last year—including the COVID-19 pandemic, extensive shut downs, and subsequent racial justice uprising in the U.S.—and how they have impacted the lives of residents of New Britain and beyond.
 
Jennifer Wen Ma has created a limited-edition memento of the project An Inward Sea, which was commissioned by the New Britain Museum of American Art as part of their 2020/20+ Women@NBMAA initiative and ongoing NEW/NOW series dedicated to contemporary artists.
 
The making of these miniatures was completed in the same studio as the "sea" found in the exhibition. Each piece is made from black cut-paper waves tipped in gold and hand signed by the artist on the cover. Protective envelope included.
