Cry Joy Park - Lille Edition

Laser-cut flash-spun non-woven HDPE garden, pigment

Musee de l'Hospice Comtesse
Lille, France

May 19 - September 27, 2021

The Cry Joy Park black and white garden installations have been interpreted in multiple ways through numerous exhibitions around the world. May 2021, the gardens overtook a space that was a 15th century hospital turned museum - Musee de l'Hospice Comtesse.

While the Covid-19 pandemic was still raging in France, the work remarked on a time of loss and turmoil while simultaneously a time of healing and resurgence. The juxtaposition of the black and white gardens gives the viewer space to recognize the hope that is revealing itself in a time of chaos.  Where there is room for new hope to emerge, there is also space for meditation. In a dedicated section of the white garden, the public is invited to contribute to it by cutting into the paper foliage, as an act of meditation towards healing in this time of chaos and regrowth.
