Limited edition Dodo with One Hundred Meeps Walking in the Desert in Five Movements is printed on five reflective chrome plates and stored in a beautifully handcrafted dark walnut wooden box.
The video that this work originates from was first presented at Eslite Gallery, Taipei, 2011, and shows a night desert scene where a young girl in a white dress holding 100 white balloons walks in an inky landscape, forming a haunting picture. It was a whimsical collaboration between Ma and her seven-year-old niece Dodo, who stars in the video and composed its musical track.
Each image from the print series is thoughtfully chosen by the artist, to represent the key visual and sonic movements of the video work.
