Inked Plants

Ink, various plants

Inked
Eslite Gallery, Taipei

February 19 - March 20, 2011

Gallery one displays five tableaux of blackened plants: cypress, bamboo, chrysanthemum, plum and orchid. These plants are painted black with Chinese ink. While they resemble classic Chinese flower painting compositions, they are in fact three-dimensional and changing: the inked plants are alive and will grow during the exhibition month.

Rather than painting flowering plants on paper, the ink is directly applied to the objects, in three-dimensional space, with the fourth element being change over time.
